As announced by memo posted on 3/30/2020, PDF-optional grading is available for Junior Independent Work in Anthropology in Spring 2020.
The University deadline to elect PDF grading is May 12, 2020.
This 4/20/2020 memo explains the PDF-election process that some students have recently sought to clarify.
- For Anthropology Junior Independent Work (ANT 981), grades will be available to students only through TigerHub, after the department reports JP letter grades to the Registrar on May 26, 2020. No JP grade will be available to students until then. Advisers will grade final JPs after May 12. Students who wish to receive comments on their final submissions should contact their advisers individually.
- Students who submitted a draft by April 13 will be able to use feedback received on their drafts and their own assessment of the quality of their subsequent final submission to make informed decisions regarding the advisability of PDF election. Adviser comments may or may not be available for drafts submitted later, but students may ask their advisers for information.
- Students may refer to the Guide to Independent Work in Anthropology for evaluation standards in the department.
- The ANT 981 letter grade reported to the Registrar, regardless of whether it appears on a student’s transcript in letter format or as a Pass grade, will be taken into consideration in determination of honors at graduation if the letter grade will be beneficial to the student.
