Venezia Garza is a junior pursuing a concentration in Medical Anthropology on the pre-medical track. Her academic focus centers on examining how the prevailing healthcare systems in the United States affect the disease prognosis of older adults and influence the lived experiences of their respective familial caregivers. Venezia’s overarching career aspirations are rooted in the promotion of health equity, literacy, and empowerment for medically marginalized individuals and families through her intersecting interests in medicine and health policy. Ultimately, she envisions utilizing her bilingualism
and personal background to serve as an advocate for patients across diverse settings, including hospitals, educational institutions, and community-based initiatives.
