Jose Virgen Ortiz is a first generation student, born and raised in the state of Georgia. He is a first generation Mexican-American and a part of the class of 2025. As a major on the Medical Anthropology track, Jose is pursuing two minors in Global Health Policy and Latina/e/o/x studies, and a certificate in Latin American Studies. He is also on the Pre-Med Post-Baccalaureate track with interests in dermatology & pediatrics. In respect to Anthropology, his interests surround global health policy, human reproductive ecology, ethnomedicine, & medical ethics in respect to racial identities. Outside of academics, he enjoys reading, traveling on budget, concerts/music, and skincare as a form of self care.
