Dear Princeton Anthropology Community,
Welcome back!
We hope that you have all had restorative and creative summers, and we are looking forward to an exciting new academic year. We have a terrific roster of courses and stimulating events planned and we are deeply grateful to faculty and staff for their help in making it all happen.
We want to give a special warm welcome to our wonderful new staff: Joseph (Joe) D. Capizzi Jr. (Manager, Finance and Administration) and Kelly Lake (Undergraduate Program Manager). Please stop by our main Aaron Burr Hall office area to greet them and introduce yourselves.
We are thrilled to welcome Assistant Professor Ikaika Ramones to Anthropology and the broader Princeton community. We also want to thank Dr. Elizabeth (Lisa) A. Davis and Dr. Onur Günay for taking up the important roles of Director of Graduate Studies and Director of Undergraduate Studies respectively.
Together with Assistant Professor Beth Semel, we assembled a inspiring Fall lecture series. The series will begin and end with celebratory discussion panels in honor of our colleagues’ new books: Ryo Morimoto’s Nuclear Ghost and Lisa Davis’s Artifactual. In between, we’ll hear from a wide array of top scholars on proprioceptive sociality, Hawaiian decolonization and feminism, and critical humanistic approaches to AI.
We encourage you all to attend these energizing events and to contribute to our collective learning.
With all best wishes,
João Biehl and the Anthropology Team
