Princeton Anthropology at the AAA Annual Meeting

Nov. 25, 2024

Several generations of Princeton anthropologists attended the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association in Tampa, Florida, on November 20-23, organized under the theme “Praxis”.

The department hosted a lively reception to reconnect with alumni and celebrate recent books by our faculty. During the reception, we also recognized awards received by Professors Elizabeth Davis and Laurence Ralph, Lecturer Timothy Loh, and anthropology graduate students Aaron Su and Nicolás Díaz Letelier.

Jeffrey Himpele, Director of the VizE Lab, showed the short animated documentary, Shame On You!, at this year’s Society for Visual Anthropology (SVA) Film & Media Festival, which coincided with the AAA meetings.

Our faculty and students, as well as alumni, participated in keynote presentations, book celebrations, panel discussions, roundtables, workshops, and social events. Professor Carolyn Rouse is the current President of the American Anthropological Association.

We are looking forward to next year’s conference in New Orleans, Louisiana!
