Anthropology Graduate student Nikita Taniparti wrote an article for the Society for Cultural Anthropology's Fieldsights on Teaching Tools. This article, “The Case for Paying it Backward: Thanking the Teachers Who Leave Imprints,” describes the value of recognizing the mentors and teachers that have influenced us. Taniparti writes about the value of "paying it backward" as an act of giving thanks, alongside the conventional advice to "pay it forward" to future generations. Paying it backwards is about saying thank you, showing gratitude, and recognizing those teachers who left an imprint on you.
