Nikita Taniparti, second-year Anthropology graduate student, will be hosting a series of three podcasts with Mergers and Acquisitions, produced by the Society for Economic Anthropology (SEA) in collaboration with the American Anthropological Association (AAA). The podcast hosts interviews with leading economic anthropologists, provides reflection pieces on economic transformations and problems, and serves as a vehicle for new and established scholars to connect with each other.
Nikita remarks: "The theme for my episodes is ‘Economies Emerging,’ asking the question, ‘What are emerging features of economies that upend the dominant neoliberal order?’ These episodes explore the dynamic and subaltern nature of economic relations in the context of a constantly changing global political landscape. We present an array of new conceptions of how economies are emerging and challenging conventional notions of moral and affective economic systems. The first episode is with Dr. Tania Li on her work in Indonesia looking at assemblages in land reform. The second episode hosts Dr. Kelly McKowen on notions of selfhood and nationhood in the context of unemployment in Norway. The third episode features Dr. Carolyn Rouse on her forthcoming book on economies of care in rural California."
