On October 25th, Lindsay Ofrias defended her powerful dissertation “Healing Justice: Environmental Defenders and a Thriving Amazonia”. Ofrias investigated the political economy of contamination and people’s struggles for biocultural survival in the oil frontier of Amazonian Ecuador. 

Ofrias' dissertation committee included her two co-advisors, João Biehl and Carolyn Rouse, and her two examiners, Carol Greenhouse (Princeton Emerita) and Donna Goldstein (University of Colorado-Boulder). 

Lindsay Ofrias has accepted an Anthropology position as the Ecozoid Postdoctoral Fellowship at McGill University.
