Elizabeth Chin and Laurence Ralph Lead Journal Publishing Graduate Workshop

April 15, 2024

On Friday April 12th, the Department of Anthropology hosted a conversation between Elizabeth Chin, the editor-in-chief of American Anthropologist, and the department’s own Laurence Ralph, the editor-in-chief of Current Anthropology. Directed towards the topic of how to approach publishing in academic journals as a graduate student, this discussion walked the graduate students in attendance through the multiple different types of publications that journals can offer, how to publish while writing up a dissertation, ways of getting involved in journals beyond publishing, and the importance of timing when to aim to publish. As leading editors of flagship journals in the field of Anthropology, the department was fortunate to host them in discussion.
