CTP project featured during the “UTokyo Day”

March 3, 2025

CTP co-director Laurence Ralph gave a presentation on CTP’s Princeton–UTokyo Strategic Partnership Project “Policing, Public Space, and Democracy” at the “UTokyo Day” event held on February 27, 2025 to share the joint accomplishments facilitated by the partnership grant as delegations from University of Tokyo and Princeton University celebrated the strengthening of the partnership between the two universities.

The project, “Policing, Public Space, and Democracy,” analyzes policing as a component of democracy in both Japan and the United States in order to contemplate new approaches to public security, safety, and crime prevention that minimize the use of force in everyday life.

As part of the project, faculty members and students from the University of Tokyo have visited Princeton University, and Princeton University’s project team and students also traveled to Tokyo and Hiroshima. The project team plans to build on the partnership and continue to engage in scholarly exchange.
