AnthroDay | Celebrating Anthropology at Princeton and around the World

March 5, 2025

On February 20, the Department of Anthropology celebrated AnthroDay with dumplings from around the world. Students, faculty, and staff joined together to make this another fantastic celebration of Anthropology Day. President-Elect of the AAA and Anthropology Professor Carolyn Rouse welcomed everyone to the event.

Assistant Professor Amelia Frank-Vitale gave a wonderful summary of her current research on migration. Frank-Vitale explained that anthropology helps us understand the human experience - of which migration is an ever-present part - holistically, affectively, without trying to smooth over all the complexities and incoherencies and decidedly non-rational ways in which people interpret and engage with the world around them.

The crowd enjoyed tasty dumplings, including gyoza, shumai, loukoumades, samosas, pierogies, empanadas, prashki, and more. Anthropology Day is a day for anthropologists to celebrate the discipline while sharing it with the world around them.
