Event Description

How to Prosecute Genocide: The Role of the International Criminal Court in the Path to Justice, will feature Luis Moreno Ocampo, the Founder and Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, who will discuss the ICC’s critical role in addressing and prosecuting genocide and crimes against humanity. Ocampo, known for his work on high-profile cases involving figures such as Muammar Gaddafi, Jorge Rafael Videla, and Joseph Kony, will reflect on the challenges of establishing justice on an international scale. 

The conversation will also address the ICC’s relevance to modern conflicts, including ongoing crises in Gaza and Ukraine. Anoush Baghdassarian, a legal expert with firsthand experience at the Armenia-Nagorno-Karabakh border, will contribute insights into contemporary human rights documentation and advocacy. Barbara Buckinx, a Research Scholar and Lecturer at the Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination, will moderate the discussion.
